About the game
Last Lamp is a long, spooky adventure for players who like a little suspense. You carry the last lantern through eight haunted woods, from quiet pine forests to a graveyard, frozen woods, ruins and the pitch-black Deep Hollow. In every level you must search the fog for glowing orbs, then run to the golden gate. Tall watchers with pale eyes stalk you and only stand still while your light is on them, but your lantern is running low and it flickers at the worst moments. Later levels add fast runners and slow ghosts. A full run takes around 15 to 25 minutes, and when you escape the last wood, endless mode begins. The game is tense but family-friendly, with no blood or gore.
How to play
- Move with W A S D or the arrow keys, or drag a finger anywhere on the screen like a joystick
- Press Space or tap the 🔆 button for a bright flare that stuns nearby enemies and pushes them back
- Walk into a glowing blue orb to collect it, and into an amber oil flask to refill your lantern
- After the last orb of a level, run to the golden gate. A small arrow points to the nearest orb if you are lost
Scoring
Each orb gives 100 points. Clearing a level adds a bonus for the level number, the fuel left in your lantern and how fast you finished. You have three lives, and you gain an extra life every third level (up to five). Your best score and your furthest level are saved on your device.
Tips and tricks
- Keep a watcher inside your circle of light and it stands still, but do not stare for too long because your fuel drains.
- Save the flare for when an enemy is close. It has a long cooldown and costs a little fuel.
- Amber oil flasks only glow when you are nearby, so check around every grove of trees.
- Runners move fast in the dark and ghosts ignore your light, so keep moving when they appear.
- The faster the heartbeat sound, the closer the danger. Headphones make the game better.

- How long is Last Lamp?
- A full run through all eight levels takes roughly 15 to 25 minutes. After that, endless mode keeps going with harder levels.
- Is Last Lamp too scary for children?
- It is spooky and tense but not graphic. There is no blood, gore or violence, and being caught simply ends the attempt.
- What happens when I run out of lives?
- The game ends, but your furthest level is saved. Tap Continue on the start screen to resume from that level with fresh lives.
- Why does the watcher stop moving?
- Watchers and runners only move in the dark. While they are inside your lantern light they freeze. Ghosts, which appear from level 7, ignore your light, so use the flare against them.
- Can I play on my phone?
- Yes. Drag anywhere to move and tap the flare button. Sound can be switched off with the speaker button.
